A few weeks ago I was in a conversation where we reflected on the 9/11 terror attacks on the World Trade Centre, in New York City. We both quickly recalled where we were, who we were with and how we felt. While that day was still very fresh in our minds we noted that someone who is a 15 year old teen today wasn’t even born then. As each year passes that age will increase and more and more people will know it as an event but not be able to relate to the feelings that it evoked.
Each year we celebrate Easter. It is the most highly attended church weekend of the year. We read the accounts, listen to the message and, for most, accept it as fact. Being 2000 years removed from the actual events and culture, however, we may find it hard to relate to the feelings and reality of the Easter message; in particular a man claiming to be the son of God, and radically disrupting the religious system of the day.
On April 8th & 9th, at 7:30 PM, Park Avenue will present “The Perfect Son,” written by our own, Dr. Justin Peddle. In this modern retelling of the Easter story, Justin gives us an opportunity to imagine “what if” Jesus came with His message today, in our culture and time. Would we accept Him?
We invite you to join us and to be reminded of the reality and timeless message of Easter, and the truth of Scripture, that “to all who did receive Him… He gave the right to become the children of God” (John1:12).
